Every school as part of education is expected to change positively, to achieve the vision that has been formulated. Related to the principal as an innovator has an important role in the implementation of positive changes in the school. In order for this change to be implemented properly, the principal must have a vision and mission and a strategy to support innovation in the school. This research is a descriptive study. . The population in this study were all teachers at SMK Negeri 3 Padang, taking 87 people and the sample of this study was 49 people using the Slovin formula and taken with the stratified proportional random sampling technique. The research instrument used was a questionnaire using a Likert Scale with five answer choices that have validity and reliability using SPSS version 16.0. Data were analyzed using the mean.
The results of the data analysis show the Teacher's Perception about the Principal's Role as an Innovator in Padang 3 Vocational High School 1) in terms of finding new collaborations with a good achievement rate of 77.99%, 2) choosing according to needs. good enough with the acquisition rate reaching 77.17%, and 3) in terms of providing a good example with an acceptance rate of 83.31%. It can be concluded that the Teacher's Perception about the Role of the Principal as an Innovator in SMK Negeri 3 Padang in accordance with the criteria is quite good with an approval rate reaching 79.49%.
