Abstract
This study was motivated by the low speaking skills of children aged 4-5 years in Nagari Tigo Sungai Inderapura. This is thought to be due to the low interaction between parents and children. This study aims to; determine the description of the speaking skills of children aged 4-5 years, determine the description of the interaction between parents and children in the family, and see the relationship between parental interaction and children's speaking skills in family education in Nagari Tigo Sungai Inderapura. This study is a quantitative study with a correlational type. The population of the study were mothers who have children aged 4-5 years in Nagari Tigo Sungai Inderapura. The sample was taken using area random sampling. The data collection technique was in the form of a questionnaire with a tool in the form of a questionnaire. The data analysis technique used the percentage and product moment formulas. The results of the study showed that; the speaking skills of children aged 4-5 years were in the low category, the interaction between parents and children in the family was in the low category, and there was a significant relationship between parental interaction and children's speaking skills in family education in Nagari Tigo Sungai Inderapura.
