Empowerment of Pottery Making Community (Case Study of Community in Korong Kabun Mudiak, Padang Pariaman Regency)

Abstract


This research is motivated by the success of Mrs. RH as an individual who empowers the community in Korong Kabun Mudiak in making pottery. Through this empowerment, the community involved is able to increase their economic income and become empowered. Currently, the marketing of pottery from Korong Kabun Mudiak has reached various islands in Indonesia and even entered the international market, namely Malaysia. This study aims to determine the empowerment process carried out in Korong Kabun Mudiak through making pottery. which uses a qualitative research type with a case study approach, the technique in collecting data uses interviews, documentation, and observation. In addition, the technique for drawing data sources uses the Techniquesnowballsampling, with data analysis using data reduction, data filtering, and conclusions. The results of this study are the empowerment process carried out, namely (1) The process of creating an atmosphere that supports the potential of pottery students to develop by way of, fostering awareness, learning processes, and learning support, (2) the process of strengthening the potential of students by increasing trust and knowledge transfer between generations. (3) Efforts to protect students by way of product marketing protection and a decent wage system.
