Abstract


This research is motivated by the success of the training participants in achieving the goal of doing an apprenticeship in Japan. The existence of this job training institution is very helpful in realizing the desire of the training participants to achieve the implementation of programs provided by the institution. The use of learning media in learning greatly influences the learning process. Mastery of language is very important for the training participants. The research approach is qualitative, with the type of research is a case study. Sources of data in this study consisted of training participants as subjects, and instructors and managers as informants. The data collection techniques used were interviews, observation and documentation. The data analysis technique used was data reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions. The data validity technique used source triangulation and method triangulation. The results of this study indicate that the use of learning media in the training participants' speaking mastery is good, it can be concluded that; a) mastery of vocabulary owned by the trainees through the modules they use for learning and by adding memorization of vocabulary at each meeting. b) the speaking skills acquired by the trainees in a good way through listening and practicing. c) for the introduction of the media itself before learning is delivered the instructor introduces what media will be used first. d) suitability of the use of the media, not in accordance with the material to be conveyed. e) attracting participants' interest can be done frequently by doing conversation exercises and with learning methods assisted by picture cards matching the pictures with Japanese vocabulary.
