Abstract
The study applied Descriptive Qualitative method in the form of spoken or written words regarding what objects were seen as a whole. The results of the study revealed that the history of Ukat {Nel} tribe was brought by Dutch East Indies traders through the trade routes. The arrival of Ukat {Nel} tribe in the territory of Indonesia was first on the island of Kalimantan, the island of Ambon, then to the island of Flores, precisely in Larantuka. The spread of the tribe of Ukat {Nel} tribe on Timor island began at Malaka regency, then continue to Wini – North Insana sub-district, and finally in Tunbaba village, East Miomaffo sub-district, North Central of Timor. Meanwhile, the local wisdom of Ukat {Nel} tribe includes bête worn by men equipped with pilu, futu, aluk none, nit none, inuh at traditional events or formal institutional affairs as well as Tais used by women and is equipped with aluk none, kil none, nit none, inuh at traditional activities or formal institutional affairs. Bano, sene, and ke'e, equipments are used at the dance event to inaugurate a traditional house, hauteas or welcome guests. Tupa, bo'o, kaisu'i, taka, kubi, na'i huna, son noah, ta'o, kubi, are the skulat kitchen equipment. Benas, fani, bese, fani, kenkanu equipments are used in the garden. While suni and auni are used to guard the enemy and kill during the war. The language used by Ukat {Nel} tribe is the Meto language.
