Abstract
This study aimed to develop a Self-Organized Learning Environment (SOLE) learning model to improve the observation report writing skills of fourth-grade elementary school students in Natural and Social Sciences (IPAS) learning. The study employed a Research and Development (R&D) approach using the 4D development model, which consists of the Define, Design, Develop, and Disseminate stages. The research subjects were 20 fourth-grade students at a public elementary school in Surabaya, Indonesia. Data were collected through classroom observations, expert validation questionnaires, and observation report writing skill tests. The expert validation results indicated that the developed learning model was highly feasible, with an average score of 90%, while the readability test of the SOLE-based learning module achieved a score of 88%, categorized as very good. The findings revealed that the implementation of the SOLE model in IPAS learning fostered students' independent learning, collaboration, and critical thinking skills in organizing information obtained from direct observation activities. Furthermore, the SOLE learning model proved effective in improving students' observation report writing skills within the context of integrated thematic learning in elementary schools.
