Abstract


This research is motivated by the high participation of students in TPQ in following the Iqra 'and Alquran learning. This is allegedly caused by the use of a group approach by educators. This study aims to describe the group approach by educators according to students at TPQ Al-Hikmah which includes: (1) increasing student participation, (2) arousing students 'interest in learning, (3) fostering students' cooperation. This type of research is quantitative descriptive. The population in this study were one hundred and forty students registered at the level of Iqra 'and the Qur'an. The research sample was selected by purposive random sampling and obtained thirty-five students as samples. Data was obtained through questionnaires, which were then analyzed using percentage calculations. The results of the study are (1) the use of group approaches can increase students 'participation, (2) the use of group approaches can generate interest in students' learning, (3) the use of group approaches can foster student cooperation.
