Abstract


This research aimed at finding out the contribution of productive training subject mastery and learning interest toward students’ performances in industrial working practice at SMKN 5 Padang. The design of the research was correlational research. The subjects were twelfth grade students majoring the electric power installation. The instruments of the research were questionnaires and students’ final scores of productive training course as well as the industrial working practice. The reliability and validity tests were conducted at SMKN 1 Padang. From the tests, it was found that 32 out of 40 questions were valid. Meanwhile, the reliability score of the questions were 0.933. In the analysis of the data, the product moment and regression techniques were used in order to find out the correlation between the independent and the dependent variables. It was concluded that (1) the productive training subject mastery contributed to students’ performances in industrial working practice ; (2) the learning interest contributed to students’ performances in industrial working practice; (3) both productive training subject mastery and learning interest contributed to students’ performances in industrial working practice. The result of using the determinant coefficient contributed to the first hypothesis for about 7.29%, to the second hypothesis for about 37%, and to the third hypothesis for about 37.56%. Meanwhile, the relative contribution of SR (X1) was 50.7% and the relative contribution of SR (X2) was about 49.27%. Finally, the effective contribution of SE (X1) was 1.44% and the effective contribution of SE (X2) was 1.40%.
