Abstract

This research aims to determine the framing pattern of unja.ac.id news through the framing analysis model of Zhongdang Pan and Gerald M. Kosicki. This research was conducted using a descriptive qualitative approach. This research involved seven news stories published from October to November 2024. The research results show that the syntactic structure, leads and headlines of news are not fully optimal, especially in some news that does not include why and how elements. In the script structure, the completeness of the 5W+1H elements has generally been fulfilled, but the first news still lacks an explanation regarding the reasons and how the event occurred. The thematic structure shows the effective use of source quotes, but there needs to be a variety of perspectives to make it more objective. Meanwhile, in rhetorical structures, the use of visual elements such as photos is still less consistent and needs to be improved in terms of quality and relevance. Based on these findings, it is recommended that news writers pay more attention to the quality of leads and headlines, improve the use of visual elements, and ensure diversity of perspectives in source quotes to strengthen news objectivity. This research contributes to the understanding of news framing patterns on unja.ac.id and can be used as teaching material in teaching journalism and better news writing among students and the academic community.
