Abstract


This research is grounded on the lack of people’s knowledge about traditional food,
food serving equipment and food arrangement technique, and mean of food tradition. This
research is purposed to: (1) describe types of Central Java’s traditional food, (2) describe
the meaning of traditional food, (3) describe food’s serving equipment, and (4) describe
food arrangement technique in traditional wedding ceremony of Central Java in Sungai
Jambu village. The type of research is qualitative research, and object of research is
traditional food for wedding ceremony of Central Java. Data collected by snow ball
sampling technique. Data analyzing include reduction, display, and verification of
conclusion.Results come from this research show that wedding ceremonies in Sungai
Jambu village had been contaminated by outside culture, such as performance stage, food,
equipments, and arrangement technique, so the ceremonies is not as Central Java native’s
ceremony. Therefore, it is important to get elder and young generation to take a role in
maintaining the culture and preventing from the loss and outside culture’s influence.
