Abstract

Dinas Perpustakaan dan Arsip Kabupaten Bandung has implemented the digitalization of vital records to enhance the efficiency and accessibility of archive management. By utilizing Optical Character Recognition (OCR) technology, physical documents are converted into searchable digital formats. This study employs a descriptive qualitative approach through observations, interviews, and literature reviews to analyze the implementation of digitalization, the challenges encountered, and the effectiveness of OCR. The results indicate that OCR enhances the accuracy and speed of digital archive retrieval; however, its application remains limited to the scanning phase, which is only one part of the overall digitalization process. Subsequent processes, such as indexing and creating archive lists, are still performed manually, leading to suboptimal efficiency. Other challenges include limited infrastructure, a lack of system integration, and inadequate operational procedures. In conclusion, while the implementation of OCR has significant potential, improvements in technology and system integration are needed to achieve optimal outcomes.
