Analisis Register dalam Komunitas "Local AU Base" di Media Sosial X: Kajian Sosiolinguistik

Abstract

The Local AU Base community serves as a platform for fans of Alternative Universe (AU) fiction to interact on the social media site X (formerly Twitter). The community has gained increasing popularity among fiction fans due to the growing interest in reading year after year. The purpose of this study is to describe the forms and meanings of closed and open register contexts. Previous studies have tended to focus on simple and complex forms, as well as the functions of registers. This study employs a qualitative descriptive method, using data in the form of X tweets collected from the community. The data were obtained through an in-depth analysis of several posts over a two-month period. The final results indicate that interactions among community members utilize terms referred to as registers. The registers used are divided into two forms: limited-scope registers and open-scope registers. Limited-scope registers refer to terms understood only by specific social groups, while open-scope registers encompass terms whose meanings are understood by the general public. A total of 23 utterances were analyzed using the read-and-record technique. The results indicate a predominance in the use of limited-scope registers.
