Registration and login are required to submit items online and to check the status of current submissions.

 

Author Guidelines

The editor of Humanus: Jurnal Ilmiah Ilmu-Ilmu Humaniora welcomes article in social and humanities studies and the submissions should be in accordance with the following guidelines: 

  1. Articles have not been published or accepted for any publication, or are being considered for publication elsewhere. In addition to the manuscript, a written statement should be attached which clarifies that the article is original and does not contain any elements of plagiarism.
  2. Types of articles suitable for publication include the following; research reports (laboratory, field, archives), conceptual ideas, studies, theory applications. 
  3. Articles are written in Indonesian, English (preferable), or Malay using academic language along with standard academic writing structure and composition. Manuscripts are typed 1 spaced in a quarto paper size (A4), between 4500-6000 words in length (excluding references, pictures, and tables).
  4. Article should be in form of essay which includes:
    • title (maximum 15 words),
    • author’s name (without academic degree) with an e-mail address and institution’s name,
    • abstract in English and Indonesian (150-200 words for each) which includes research problems, methods and results,
    • key words in English and Indonesian (5 words),
    • introduction (without subsection) which includes background, research gap, objectives, and literature reviews/theoretical construct (if needed) of the research. The introduction section  ends with an emphasis on items to be discussed,
    • research methods
    • discussion,
    • conclusion, and
    • references.
  5. Reference list format is based on APA (American Psychological Association) style. It is recommended to use Mendeley Reference Management. Reference list should appear at the end of the article and includes only literatures actually cited in the manuscripts. References are ordered alphabetically and chronologically. When writing a reference list, please use the following conventions;
    • Amir, M.S. (2010). Adat Minangkabau: Pola dan tujuan hidup orang Minang. Padang: PT Mutiara Sumber Widya. 
    • Frinaldi, A.; Putri, N.E.; Fitria, H. (2015). The Padang administration's policy in overcoming and developing street children. Humanus: Jurnal Ilmiah Ilmu-ilmu. XIV (2), 105-119.
    • Wardhaugh, R. (1986). An introduction to sociolinguistics. New York: Basil Blackwell.
  6. To submit an article, please register. Fill the password by yourself. Then click 'user home' and click 'new submission' at the end of author.
  7. Articles should be submitted online in soft files using Microsoft Word application (97-2003). 
  8. Authors will be sent notifications of the receipt of manuscripts and editorial decisions (whether the articles are accepted or not) by e-mail. Manuscripts that are not published will not be returned to the authors.

Submission Preparation Checklist

As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.

  1. The submission has not been previously published, nor is it before another journal for consideration (or an explanation has been provided in Comments to the Editor).
  2. The submission file is the Template that is save in Microsoft Word 97-2003, or RTF file format.

  3. Where available, URLs for the references have been provided.

  4. The text is single-spaced; uses a 12-point Cambria font for the title; 11-pt  Calibry font for the content, and 10-pt calibry for the reference and employs italics, rather than underlining (except with URL addresses); and all illustrations, figures, and tables are placed within the text at the appropriate points, rather than at the end.
  5. The text adheres to the stylistic and bibliographic requirements outlined in the Author Guidelines, which is found in About the Journal.
  6. If submitting to a peer-reviewed section of the journal, the instructions in Ensuring a Blind Review have been followed. Just Write "Author" and "affiliation."

Author Fees

This journal charges the following author fees.

Article Submission: 0.00 (IDR)
Authors are not required to pay an Article Submission Fee.

Article Publication: 1000000.00 (IDR)

Since Vol. 17 No. 2 (October 2018), Humanus will have Article Processing Charge (APCs) for all accepted papers to cover the reviewing process, printing, and shipping the journal. The APC is Rp1,000,000.00 (1 million Rupiah/1 juta rupiah) and the authors need to wire transfer to our bank account. The author will get free 1 hardcopy of the journal.

The journal will be freely available to all readers with worldwide visibility and coverage.

If you do not have funds to pay such fees, you will have an opportunity to waive each fee. We do not want fees to prevent the publication of worthy work.
