Abstract
Purwacaraka Music Studio Padang is a non-formal music institution which opens drum classes for early childhood (4-8 years old) and has been attended by 14 students. In learning, there are factors which influence the process: supporting factors and inhibiting factors. There is an interesting problem to be examined in this study. It is how to learn drums for early childhood at Purwacaraka Music Studio Padang?. The theoretical basis used in this study contains of the notion of learning and teaching, drum learning, early childhood, music, conceptual framework, types of courses, and participants. This research used a qualitative approach which produced descriptive data about Drum Learning for Early Childhood at Purwacaraka Music Studio Padang. The data were collected through observation interview and documentation. Meanwhile, the interactive data analysis was conducted through data reduction, data presentation, conclusion drawing, and conclusion verification. The data were processed and then selected for the reliability and validity. The validity of the data was done by checking the data starting from data collection, data presentation, data reduction, conclusions drawing, and verification.
