Abstract
ABSTRACT
This research aimed to describe and to analyze the existence of Pisau dance in Sungai Baung, Rawas Ulu, Musi Rawas Utara regency. The research design was qualitative research with descriptive analysis method. The object of this research was Pisau dance in Sungai Baung, Rawas Ulu, Musi Rawas Utara regency. The data were obtained through library research, interview, and documentation. The result showed that Pisau dance is traditional dance created in 1930 in Sungai Baung. In 1975 the popularity of Pisau dance started to decrease due to the coming of new entertainments like orgen tunggal, and nazom. In 2000 Pisau dance was activated by Nurul Iman art group. In 2002 Pisau dance got the first place in Dance Festival in Muara Enim. It was performed in many dance competitions, and in wedding parties. In 2007, the activity of Nurul Iman art group was stuck due to the flood. In 2013, after Muaratara regency was developed, this art group got the attention from the government. In 2017, Pisau dance is not only performed in wedding parties but also is presented in governmental events.
