Abstract


Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui hubungan antara kesepian dengan problematic internet use pada mahasiswa. Hipotesis dalam penelitian ini yaitu terhadap hubungan positif antara kesepian dengan problematic internet use pada mahasiswa. Subjek penelitian ini berjumlah 120 mahasiswa. Pengambilan subjek penelitian menggunakan sampling purposive dengan pengumpulan data menggunakan Skala Problematic Internet Use dan Skala Kesepian. Data dianalisis menggunakan korelasi product moment dengan program SPSS. Berdasarkan hasil analisis, diperoleh nilai korelasi (rxy) sebesar 0,721 dan p = 0,000 (p < 0,01). Hasil tersebut menunjukan bahwa terdapat hubungan positif antara kesepian dengan problematic internet use pada mahasiswa. Hasil tersebut menunjukkan bahwa hipotesis diterima, artinya semakin tinggi kesepian pada mahasiswa maka semakin tinggi pula problematic internet use pada mahasiswa dan sebaliknya, semakin rendah kesepian pada mahasiswa maka semakin rendah  pula problematic internet use pada mahasiswa. Koefisien determinasi (R2) =  0,52, hal ini menunjukkan bahwa kesepian memiliki kontribusi sebesar 52 % terhadap problematic internet use.
