Abstract


This paper describe the elementary preservice teachersunderstandingthe importance will meaning ofan integratedscience learningin an effort todevelop a range ofcapabilitiesorpotentiallearnersinscribedin thebasicskillsof scientificworkasaneffort to revamp thequality ofbasiceducation.Small-scale researchthroughconcept mapsmethodto testhow theunderstanding ofelementaryteacher candidates(sciences aspect) onthe concept ofintegrated learningasthe most importantprovisionfor learnersinearlyschooltodevelopthinking skillsand problem solving skillsso thatbirthandcaring attitude towardsthe environmenthas ahigh learning literacy.Theelementarypreservice teachersunderstandingaboutintegrated teachinggenerallylimited toconnectionsbetweendifferenttopicsand subjects.The preservice teacherstend to usea staticconcept mapsandthe use ofconnectingwordsare verycommon.Thisphenomenonindicatesthattheir ability torelate theconcepts orfactsbetween conceptsof differentdisciplinesis very limitedthroughthe conceptmap.
