Abstract

ABSTRACT

The research about copper (Cu) processing of the rock sample using the chelating dithizone solvent extraction  method by time and pH variation has been done. The sample used in this research is rock sample taken from Bonjol sub-district, Pasaman district, West Sumatera.

The purpose of this research is to find out the influence of pH and time in copper processing by using chelating dithizone solvent extraction  method by time and pH variation. The content of copper (Cu) metal measured by using Atomic Absorption Spectroscopy (AAS).

The result shows that 10 minutes are the optimum time to proceed. Meanwhile 7 is the optimum pH to proceed. The average content can be obtained by using 1. 60 ppm chelating dithizone solvent extraction method, meanwhile by using acid solvent 0. 45 ppm the average content can be obtained. The content increases as big as 3.5x by using chelating dithizone solvent extraction method.
