ABSTRACT

This research is motivated by the discovery of a problem in SD 33 Kalumbuk Padang, a boy who is a male who is in the third grade of elementary school where the child has difficulty reading words. Thus the researcher intends to assist children in improving word reading skills by utilizing the school environment. This study aims to improve the ability to read words by utilizing the school environment for children with learning difficulties class III at SD Negeri 33 Kalumbuk, Padang. This type of research is a singel subject research (SSR) A-B design. Data collected through direct observation and recorded on the observation sheet. Data analyzed were using graphical visual analysis. The results of this study indicate that the ability to read words for children with learning difficulties class III in SD 33 Kalumbuk Padang, increased after being given an intervention with the utilization of the school environment. In the initial condition the child gets the highest score of 20% while in the intervention condition the child gets a score of 60%. Thus it is proven that by utilizing the school environment it can improve the ability to read words for children with difficulty learning class III at SD Negeri 33 Kalumbuk Padang.

Penelitian ini dilatar belakangi dengan ditemukannya masalah di SD Negeri 33 Kalumbuk Padang, seorang anak yang berjenis kelamin laki-laki yang duduk di kelas III SD dimana anak tersebut mengalami kesulitan dalam membaca kata-kata. Dengan demikian peneneliti bermaksud untuk memanfaatkan lingkungan sekolah dalam  meningkatkan kemampuan membaca kata pada anak. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan kemampuan membaca kata dengan pemanfaatan lingkungan sekolah bagi anak kesulitan belajar kelas III di SD Negeri 33 Kalumbuk, Padang. Jenis penelitian ini merupakan penelitian subjek tunggal (SSR) desain A-B. Data yang dikumpulkan melalui pengamatan langsung dan dicatat pada lembaran observasi. Data yang dianalisis yaitu menggunakan analisis visual grafik. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa kemampuan membaca kata bagi anak kesulitan belajar kelas III di SD Negeri 33 Kalumbuk Padang, meningkat setelah diberikan intervensi dengan pemanfaatan lingkungan sekolah. Pada kondisi awal anak mendapatkan skor tertinggi 20% sedangkan pada kondisi intervensi anak mendapat skor 60%. Dengan demikian terbukti bahwa dengan pemanfaatan lingkungan sekolah  dapat meningkatkan kemampuan membaca kata bagi anak kesulitan belajar kelas III di SD Negeri 33 Kalumbuk Padang.
