Abstract
The research analyzed the English teaching materials used at the fifth grade in elementary schools in Kecamatan Padang Utara. The data of this research were seven sources books used in the sample elementary schools. This research is a kind of Descriptive design which used checklist format as the instrument. The result shows that from seven elementary schools, there were only two schools which used the English materials/ English books. The other 5 schools used students’ worksheets as the source in teaching English. The findings show that the relevancy of the English teaching materials with School Based Curriculum was 64,3 %, the relevancy of the English teaching materials with the students’ cognitive development was 61,42 %, and the relevancy of the English teaching materials with the students’ socio emotional development was 55, 74%.
