Abstract

Group Investigation is a model that can be integrated as an innovative learning method, especially for reading comprehension. The purpose of the study is to examine whether the implementation of group invetiation model can improve students reading comprehension or not. Quasi-experimental was used as a research design in this study with quantitative method. The population of the research were eleventh grade students at SMA Pembangunan Laboratorium UNP for the 2024/2025 academic year. Then using a cluster random sampling technique, the researcher selected two classes of eleventh grade students as an experimental class and a control class. The data in this research was gathered from the outcomes of the pre-test and post-test. The researcher gave a reading test consisting of 30 objective questions covering the indicators of reading comprehension from the texts studied by the students. The data anlysis result indicate that the score of pre-test and postest mean show a notable effect with mean of pre-test at 53.43 and mean post-test at 72.73. Furthermore, independent sample t-test analysis reveals Sig. (2-tailed) value was 0.00, which is lower than the significance level of 0.05. This provides evidence that the implementation of the Group Investigation model in the learning process, particularly in reading comprehension, can have a positive effect on improving the reading comprehension of eleventh-grade students at SMA Pembangunan Laboratorium UNP.
