Students' Perception on English Day at Pesantren Ar-Raudlatul Hasanah Medan

Abstract
The English Day program at Pesantren Ar-Raudlatul Hasanah Medan aims to familiarize students with using English, supporting the pesantren's vision of producing graduates skilled in both religious knowledge and foreign language communication. While some students find the program beneficial, others view it as routine with limited impact. These differing perceptions warrant further study to enhance the program's effectiveness.
In this research, researcher applied quantitive as the method of the research. The researcher used the theory of Robbin & Judge (2005), Lodico (2006), Maddy (2008) and Gardner (1972) to analyze the students’ perception on English Day based on their motivation. The samples of this research are students in class 4, 5 and 6 Senior High School at Pesantren Ar-Raudlatul Hasanah. In collecting the data for this research, the researcher used questionnaire and interview.
Based on the results of the research from the five elements; perceiver, affection, performance, integrative motivation, and instrumental motivation. In this research, there are four elements were in the “positive” category, while one was in the “very positive” category. It can be concluded that the students had positive perception towards Engish Day at Pesantren Ar-Raudlatul Hasanah Medan.
