Abstract
The purpose of this research is to determine teachers' perceptions of the digital divide in English language learning in high schools in Lima Puluh Kota. The quantitative descriptive method was used to conduct this research. In addition, a total sampling technique with 8 participants was used for the interview sample in this study. The data data collection requires 20 items using a Likert scale, along with 3 open-ended interview questions. Thus, there are three indicators in this study. The conclusions of this research shows that there is one indicator that falls into the negative perception category; recursive feedback with an average score of 2.4. The majority of teachers agree that the use of technology makes it easier for them to teach English. Additionally, other indicators fall into the category of positive perception; ubiquitous learning with an average score of 2.6 and multi-modal meaning with an average score of 3.2. The result of this research is that teachers believe that the digital divide is an important factor in the advancement of education and has a significant impact on the learning process, for example, making teachers technologically illiterate and unable to utilize technology for the English language learning process. It can be concluded that the digital divide occurs because teachers are unable to use technology and there is a lack of technological devices in English language learning at SMAN 1 Suliki and MAN Lima Puluh Kota.
