Abstract

Students’ autonomy is an important aspect in a learning process because when learners do not have the freedom to make choices and decisions about what, how, and when they learn, they become passive learners in the learning process. Conducting course thoroughly online causes a reduction in interaction with lecturer. This reduction of interaction makes it difficult for students to obtain further explanations on complex topics. Student's autonomy becomes important in language learning because in preparing learning students need high motivation and it is directly related with student's autonomy. This study aimed to find out students’ autonomy level and learning attitude in MKU Bahasa Inggris. This study used descriptive research design with quantitative descriptive approach. The population was the students who take MKU Bahasa Inggris at Universitas Negeri Padang in single semester of academic year 2024/2025. The data were collected by using questionnaire and interview. The finding showed that most of the students had high autonomy in MKU Bahasa Inggris in terms of initiating, monitoring, and evaluating. In line with that, the finding also revealed that students had positive learning attitude concerning affective, behavioral, and cognitive.
