Abstract
This research aims to determine students' perceptions of using Wattpad as a learning tool to improve English reading skills at SMAN 1 Guguak Lima Puluh Kota. Descriptive methods with a quantitative approach were used to conduct this research. This research used purposive sampling because not all students in class XI use Wattpad when learning English. Therefore, only the classes that use Wattpad for learning English were selected as the sample, specifically 3 classes with a total final sample of 77 students. The data were collected through a questionnaire using closed-ended questions consisting of 30 questions. The questionnaire used Walgito's theory, which consists of 3 indicators, namely cognitive, affective, and conative. Data from the questionnaire were analyzed using a 4-point Likert scale. The results of this research indicated that the three indicators, namely cognitive, affective, and conative, were categorized as positive. The result of the first indicator, cognitive, is 2.54, the second indicator, affective, is 2.57, and the third indicator, conative, 2.72. The overall score of these three aspects is 2.61, which is also categorized as positive. Based on the results of this study, it can be concluded that students have a positive perception of using Wattpad as a learning tool to improve their English reading skills at SMAN 1 Guguak Lima Puluh Kota.
