Abstract

This study explores the development of Canva-based learning videos aimed at improving news text writing skills among seventh-grade students one of the Junior High Schools in Palembang. The primary objective is to evaluate the effectiveness of these videos in enhancing students' writing abilities. The research employs a Development and Research (R&D) methodology, utilizing the ADDIE model, which includes five phases: Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, and Evaluation. Data collection methods consist of observations, questionnaires, tests, and documentation. Findings indicate that the developed learning videos are valid, practical, and effective. Validation results show an average score of 94% for material quality, 95% for media quality, and 90% for language quality, based on expert evaluations. Practicality is confirmed by a 100% positive response rate from educators' questionnaires. Effectiveness is demonstrated by a significant improvement in student performance, with an average pre-test score of 19.25 and a notable N-Gain value of 0.77 from post-test results. These findings suggest that Canva-based learning videos are a viable tool for enhancing writing skills in news text among middle school students.
