Abstract

This research aimed to identify the types of impoliteness strategies and compare the differences in using each type in pro-Israeli and pro-Palestinian debates. The researcher used Culpeper's (1996) theory to conduct the analysis. This research used a descriptive quantitative approach. The data were taken from two debates on different YouTube channels. The first debate was taken from the Piers Morgan Uncensored channel, uploaded on November 17, 2023, while the second was taken from the Middle East Watch channel, uploaded on June 26, 2024. The results showed that both pro-Israeli and pro-Palestinian used all types of impoliteness strategies. However, there were differences in the frequency of use of each type by each speaker.
