Abstract
This study aimed to compare the similarities and differences in verbal representation used by BBC News UK and BBC News Indonesia news report videos on their YouTube accounts. The researcher used Halliday and Matthiessen's (2014) theory to analyze the verbal mode. The research used was a qualitative comparative descriptive approach. The data for this research were obtained from spoken and written language in the news report videos by BBC News UK and BBC News Indonesia. It was uploaded on October 2023 on their YouTube accounts. The results showed that their transitivity, mood, and thematic structure differences indicate different methods for capturing the audience's attention. There were similarities and differences in the verbal representation used by each news report.
