KOMBINASI METODE NEWTON DENGAN METODE SECANT UNTUK MENYELESAIKAN PERSAMAAN NONLINEAR

Abstract

We discuss a combination of Newton’s method and Secant’s method to solve a non linear equation of one variable.  The same work has been done by Kasturiarachi A.B. Int. J. Math. Educ. Sci. Technol. 33(4), 521-527 (2002).  Here we prove the order of conver gence of the method for correcting some mistakes in Kasturiarachi’s article while deriving error analysis of the method.  Comparison among the discussed methods is also given by considering number of iteration and function evaluation.
