Abstract

Lead ions (Pb2+) were electrochemically identified using a pencil lead electrode that underwent modification with a thin layer of gold (Au/PLE). The gold thin layer modification was accomplished through a sweeping-potential electrodeposition method utilizing cyclic voltammetry. The objective of this study was to investigate the response of both PLE and Au/PLE for the determination of Pb2+ ions, as well as to identify the optimal conditions for the supporting electrolyte employed in Pb2+ ions measurements. The findings revealed that Au/PLE exhibited superior performance compared to PLE, with 0.1 M HNO3 identified as the optimal supporting electrolyte. The measurement of Pb2+ions using Au/PLE electrodes involved a test analyte concentration of 1 mM, and the oxidation peak of Pb2+ ions occurred at a potential of -0.42 Volt.
