Abstract

This study investigates teachers' impressions of the Kurikulum Merdeka impact on student engagement at SMPN 1 X Koto, using Fredricks' (2004) theory of student engagement as an analytical framework. This study investigates how the curriculum affects students' cognitive, emotional, and behavioral participation in class. This study takes a mixed-methods approach, combining qualitative interviews and quantitative surveys to acquire a thorough knowledge of instructors' perspectives. The Kurikulum Merdeka, founded on the ideas of autonomy, competence, and connectivity, seeks to significantly increase students' motivation and participation. The study's findings show that a well-structured curriculum design can increase student involvement, which improves academic achievement, social development, and school sustainability. This study emphasizes the significance of curriculum design in creating a learning environment that promotes active, critical, and reflective learning. It also contributes to the ongoing evaluation of the Kurikulum Merdeka by making recommendations for future educational practices and curriculum development.
