Abstract

This study explores students’ perceptions of the English Morning Program (EMP) towards their speaking skills enhancement at SMAN 1 Padang Panjang dormitory, involving 31 grade XII students of the 2024/2025 academic year. Focusing on vocabulary, grammar, pronunciation, fluency, and comprehension, this study used a quantitative descriptive method with data collected through questionnaires and analyzed using SPSS. Findings revealed that students generally perceived the EMP positively, with an overall average score of 2.93. Students revealed the enhancement in vocabulary, pronunciation, fluency, and comprehension, although grammar received negative feedback, suggesting the need for program refinements. These findings support the use of EMP as a good way in a structured learning environment to enhance language development. Boarding schools are encouraged to utilize and support EMP while expanding sample sizes for broader skill development.
