TEENAGERS’ PERCEPTION IN @WEBCOMICFESS COMMUNITY ON THE USE OF WEB COMIC FOR THEIR ENGLISH READING ACTIVITIES

Abstract


This research aims to the teenagers’ perception in @WEBCOMICFESS community on the use of web comic for their English reading activities. Descriptive method with a quantitative approach was used to conduct this research. This research used purposive sampling because not all samples have characteristics that match the phenomenon under consideration. Therefore, the total final samples are 74 teenagers. The data were collected through a questionnaire using closed-ended questions consisting of 18 questions. The questionnaire used Walgito's theory, which consists of 3 indicators, namely cognitive, conative, and affective. Data from the questionnaire were analyzed using a Likert scale. The results of this research indicated that the two indicators, namely cognitive, affective, were categorized very positive and the conative aspect, were categorized as positive. The result of the first indicator, cognitive, is 3.54, the second indicator, conative, is 3.17, and the third indicator, affective is 3.67. The overall score of these three aspects is 3.46, which is also categorized as very positive. From the findings of this study, it can be concluded that teenagers in @WEBCOMICFESS community have a very positive perception on the use of web comic for their English reading activities.
