Abstract

ABSTRACT

Endosulfan is organochlorine pesticide that have widely used by farmers because it’s persistent. The residue of uncontrolled usage of Endosulfan can contaminate the environment such as water. This study aims to identify the effects Endosulfan on hatchability of tilapia eggs (Oreochromis niloticus). This research was used completely Randomized Design with 6 treatments and 4 replications. The treatments were 0.00395%, 0.00400%, 0.00405%, 0.00410% and 0.00415% of endosulfan. The percentage hatchability counted at day 4 (after 96 hours treatment). The data analyzed by ANOVA and then DNMRT (Duncan's New Multiple Range Test). The result showed that endosulfan have effect significantly higher (p<0,05) decreased hatchability of tilapia eggs (Oreochromis niloticus), but it not effect on percentage of abnormal larvae. It can conclude that Endosulfan have embryotoxic to tilapia embryos and coused decreased of the hatchability of tilapia eggs.
