Abstract
ABSTRACT
Application of interactive learning strategy with probing questions is expected to improve the activities and learning outcomes of students. For this reason, researcher is interested to investigate the effects of its application in science learning in junior High School in Sungai Limau. The objective of this research is to investigate the activities and learning outcome of students in this learning strategy. Type of research method is action research by using the model cycle. Every cycle consist of planning, action, observation and reflection. This research consist of two cycles, those are first cycle and second cycle. Each cycle was conducted by three times observation. As the subject in research were students in grade 1 which following the learning process of Science in SMP Negeri 1 Sungai Limau. Instruments to collect the data were observation sheet and test sheet. Activity data was analyzed by graphs and percentages techniques, while learning outcomes was analyzed by using descriptive statistics. There are two results of this research. First, the application of interactive learning strategy with probing questions is able to improve the activities of students such as reading the textbook, making the questions, and doing the exercises. Second, the application of interactive learning strategy with probing questions is able to improve the learning outcomes of students. The average values of students learning outcomes in final test is 60.29.
