ANALISIS PENCEMARAN LOGAM BERAT OLEH LINDI (LEACHATE) TPA SAMPAH AIR DINGIN KOTA PADANG MENGGUNAKAN METODA GEOLISTRIK POLARISASI TERIMBAS (INDUCED POLARIZATION)
Abstract
ABSTRACT
Waste management in the Air Dingin Landfill is still using open dumping system, that is a system which lets piles of rubbish in an open place, and is very likely to pollute the environment. During the rainy season, soil and water surrounding the landfill are very easily polluted by the leachate that is rubbish liquid which contains many dangerous toxic substances including heavy metals. This research aims to investigate the indication of heavy metal pollution as a result of leachate seepage from Air Dingin Landfill in Padang city using Induced Polarization Geoelectrical method. Geoelectric measurements were carried out in the northwest and northeast parts of the landfill as much as three lines; line I was within 3 meters in the north of new waste heaps, line II was within 2 meters in the north of leachate’s pool, and line III was within 3 meters from the old waste heaps. The instrument being used was ARES (Automatic Resistivity) using induced polarization method with Wenner configuration. The results of the study revealed that in line I, II and III in the depth of 1 to 20 meters were indicated the pollution by leachate (by the value of ρ < 3 Ωm), whether it was from waste piles or seepage from the leachate’s pool. This leachate’s liquid infiltrated into clay as a dominant sediment in the research site, and it also polluted the aquifers of underground water system (reaching the depth of 60 meters). The pollution of heavy metals with the value of resistivity 0.5 – 1.2 Ωm was indicated in line I and II which was assumed coming from waste heaps of metals and also from the seepage of leachate’s pool.
