Abstract


Basic Chemistry I Course is one of the ISTE program courses. The ISTE program prepare students to be a chemistry teacher at SBI and RSBI program in Senior High School. The teaching learning process of this program is in English. The purpose of this research was to improve speaking activity of ISTE students attending Basic Chemistry I Course. Teaching method used in this study was giving a effective literature and using media that fit to the matter. The student activities a observed were reading activity, repeating words and sentences discussion, answering the questions and giving questions this research was conducted in two cycles. On the second cyrcle, learning  process allowed students had more time discussion and spoke English individually. The study found that the use of perfect literature and media in learning process of Basic Chemistry I improve the speaking activity of students. The study also found that use of group discussion method, give honour to students, allow students to speak individually, repeat English Chemistry words and sentences by student. Motivate students to speak were the ways to improve speaking activity of students.
