Abstract

The aim of this research was to find out the colorĀ  intensity of Monascus purpureus on Nata de Coco with some growing media compositionAlpha. The study was conducted from October to December 2010 at the Laboratory of Microbiology Department of Biological Science UNP. This type of research is an experiment by using a Completely Randomized Design (CRD) with 7 treatment, the corn flour, corn flour: the dregs out (1:1), corn flour: the dregs out (1:2), corn flour: the dregs out (1: 3), corn flour: rice bran (1:1), corn flour: rice bran (1:2), corn flour: rice bran (1:3), and 3 replications. Data were analyzed by Analysis of Variance (ANOVA) and tested further by Different Distance Real Duncan test (BJND) at the level of 5%. The results showed there is the combined effect of growing media on the intensity of color produced. The highest color intensity generated in the treatment of F (corn flour: the dregs out 1:2) with an average of pigmen absorbance is 0.626.
