Abstract


This research was characterized the properties of commercially available piezo electric ceramic material. The properties investigated are morphology and crystal struc ture. The analysis of morphology structure use SEM-EDAX and optical microscopy, and crystal structure use XRD. The samples of research are ceramic with HNO3 acid solution and ceramic without HNO3 acid solution. The purpose of sample was acid to eliminate conductive layer of silver. The construction of samples are three parts. Parts of the sample are silver metal conductor, ceramic, and brass substrate. The results of investigation are: (1) There are very clearly distinct interlayer between the three parts of the sample. For the ceramic sample without acid, the ceramic part has smooth grain size compared with con ductive coating of silver and brass substrate, but it has rough grain size with acid. (2) The chemical elements of piezoelectric ceramic are Zr, Pb, and Ti. The sample has largest per centage of Pb element. The chemical element of the conductive coating is silver (Ag). (3) Types of piezoelectric ceramic phase without acid are Ag and PZT phases [Pb(ZrxTi1-X)O3], and the sample with acid is only PZT phase.
