PENENTUAN KADAR SIKLAMAT PADA SOFT DRINKS SECARA SPEKTROFOTOMETRI

Abstract

We have conducted research on cyclamate in soft drinks of various trademarks found in Pasar Raya Padang. The purpose of this research was to determine the concentration of cyclamate in soft drinks. The research was a descriptive research, conducted in the laboratory of Chemistry of Faculty of Science of UNP. Levels of cyclamate was determined spectrophotometricaly using a spectronic-21. Samples of soft drinks with various trademarks are found in Raya Pasar Padang. The measurement with spektronik-21 resulted in transmittance procentage (% T) which then was converted to turbidity. Data were analyzed using linear regression equations. The results showed that from 27 brands there were 9 brands of soft drinks showing the cyclamate with levels of 5748 ppm to 61,485 ppm. So levels of cyclamate in the 9 brands of the soft drinks exceeded the threshold allowed by the Ministry of Health in 1988.
