PENGGUNAAN LESSON STUDY UNTUK MENGEMBANGKAN KOMPETENSI PEDAGOGIK CALON GURU BIOLOGI DALAM MENERAPKAN PENDEKATAN INKUIRI TERBIMBING
Abstract
The study aims to explore pedagogical competence of biology student teachers in implementing guided inquiry approach developed through lesson study. Descriptive research method was used in three-cycle lesson study on a group of Biology Student Teachers of Micro Teaching course at Faculty of Education and Teacher Training, Bengkulu University, in the second semester of 2012/2013 academic year. In the first cycle, four student teachers practiced guided inquiry approach. Then in the second and third cycle, other three student teachers practiced. In the planning phase of lesson study, all ten student teachers discussed biology lesson plan, including student worksheet, of guided inquiry approach developed by the practicing student teachers. Then, in the doing phase, student teachers practiced their teaching. In the reflection phase, discussion was done again on lesson plan, worksheet, and observed teaching practice for improvement of guided inquiry approach implementation by the subsequent practicing students teachers. Qualitative data on competence of implementing guided inquiry approach were collected from teaching practice observation and content analysis of lesson plan and student worksheet. Result of this study showed that the use of lesson study in Micro Teaching course developed pedagogical competence of biology student teachers in implementing guided inquiry approach. However, specific competence in guiding students to develop explanation on evidence, and competence in guiding students to connect explanation with scientific knowledge need to be improved.
