Abstract

The purpose of this study was: (1) describe the reasons Javanese transmigrants survive in Sungai Beremas; (2) to reveal a system of knowledge and forms of adaptation strategies of Javanese transmigrants  in Sungai Beremas. The data of this research is the reason Javanese transmigrants survive in Beremas and system knowledge embodied in the act of adaptation strategies Javanese transmigrants. Data collected by the method of observation, in-depth interviews, and documentary study. The study's findings are reason to survive because Javanese transmigrants have an optimistic attitude towards the future transmigration Sungai Beremas. Javanese transmigrants action adaptation strategy is divided into a strategy in agriculture, the strategy in the field of animal, and looking for a job outside the transmigration Sungai Beremas. Data were analyzed using analysis of cultural themes by Spradley.
