Abstract

This research aims to know and describe the differences student’s learning result by using Problem Based Instruction (PBI) Model with conventional learning model in social studies Geography class of VIII at SMPN 7 Padang academic year 2012/2013 on the Environmental Problems and Remedies efforts subject. This research is a kind of experiment research with research planning widen Randomized Control Group Only Postest Designed. The population of this research was all students VIII SMPN 7 Padang  in the first semester of the school year 2012/2013. The sample of the research was taken by purposive sampling so VIII.1  was chosen as experiment class and VIII.5  as control class. The instrument that was used in this research was learning result test. Based on the data analysis, it was found the average of learning result experiment class  was 81,09 which uses Problem Based Instruction model  higher than control class  it was 75,05 which uses conventional learning model. Through hypothesis test with t test, it was found price tcount as 2,02 with α = 0,05 while price ttable was 2,47. Thus, tcount>ttable, it means there are the differentiation of student’s learning result significantly which uses Problem Based Instruction model than which uses conventional learning model in social studies Geography on the Environmental Problems and Remedies efforts subject class of VIII at SMPN 7 Padang.
