Penelitian ini dilatar belakangi berdasarkan permasalahan di SLB Luak Nan Bungsu tentang seorang anak tunarungu yang mengalami masalah dalam menghafal surah Al-Kautsar. Kemampuan anak masih sangat rendah, untuk ayat pertama saja anak belum terlalu hafal dan sering terlihat ragu-ragu. Tujuan penelitian ini ingin membuktikan apakah metode VAKT efektif untuk meningkatkan hafalan surah Al-Kautsar . jenis penelitian ini single subject research desain A-B-A. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian metode VAKT efektif digunakan untuk meningkatkan hafalan surah Al-Kautsar.
