ABSTRACT

The purpose of this research is to find out and describe the perceptions of blind students on statistics subject, which included the materials, methods used by the lecturers, media, curriculum and expectations of blind students on statistics subject in Universitas Negeri Padang. This research  uses a case study approach with qualitative research method. The subjects of this research are blind students  who have studied statistics subject in Universitas Negeri Padang. The data collection techniques are observation, interview and documentation. The validity of data uses triangulation techniques. The result of this research shows that, understanding statistics subject is very useful when writing thesis with quantitative method. The formulas in statistics subject are difficult for blind students. The learning methods used by the lecturers are not proper yet, because it lacks special services. The lecturers have not yet provided special learning media for blind students. There are no curriculum modifications yet by the lecturers. Blind students hope the lecturers are not differentiated the students on giving exercises, give the special methods and provide special learning media for the blind students.

Tujuan penelitian ini untuk mengetahui dan medeskripsikan persepsi mahasiswa tunanetra terhadap pembelajaran statistik, yang meliputi tentang materi, metode yang digunakan dosen, media, kurikulum pembelajaran statistik, serta harapan mahasiswa tunanetra terhadap pembelajaran statistik di Universitas Negeri Padang. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan studi kasus dengan metode penelitian kualitatif. Subjek penelitian ini yaitu mahasiswa tunanetra yang telah mempelajari mata kuliah statistik di Universitas Negeri Padang. teknik pengumpulan data menggunakan observasi, wawancara dan dokumentasi. Keabsahan data menggunakan trianggulasi teknik. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukan bahwa, pemahaman statistik dirasa sangat bermanfaat pada saat penulisan skripsi menggunakan metode kuantitatif. Materi rumus-rumus dirasa sulit oleh mahasiswa tunanetra, Metode yang digunakan dosen kurang tepat, karena kurang memberikan layanan khusus. Dosen tidak menyediakan media khusus bagi mahasiswa tunanetra, Tidak ada modifikasi kurikulum dilakukan dosen. Mahasiswa tunanetra berharap tidak dibedakan dalam pemberian soal, adanya metode khusus yang digunakan dosen, serta menyediakan media khusus bagi mahasiswa tunanetra.
