Abstract


This research is based on the problem that I found in Public Elementary School 32 Kuranji Padang, a boy of the type who occupied the fifth grade of elementary school where the child had difficulty reading simple sentences and the child still spelled the word while reading. Therefore, the author seeks to help children improve their reading skills th through the spelling method. This study intends to improve the ability of early reading through spelling methods for children with learning difficulties in grade V at 32 Kuranji Padang Public Elementary School. This type of research is A-B design single subject (SSR) design. Data is collected through direct observation and recorded in the observation sheet. The data analyzed is using grapichal visual analysis. The results of this study indicate taht the ability to read the beginning rof children with learning difficulties in grade V at Kuranji Padang Elementary School 32, increased after being given an intervention with the spelling method. In the initial condition the child gets the highest score of 20% while in the intervention condition the child gets a score of 100%. Thus it is proven that the spelling method can improve the ability to read the beginning for children with learning difficulties in grade V at 32 Kuranji Padang Public Elementary School.

Penelitian ini didasarkan pada masalah yang penulis temukan di SD Negeri 32 Kuranji Padang, seorang anak yang berjenis laki-laki yang menduduki kelas V SD dimana anak tersebut mengalami kesulitan dalam membaca kalimat sederhana dan anak masih mengeja kata pada saat membaca. Oleh karena itu, penulis berupaya membantu anak dalam meningkatkan kemampuan membaca permulaan melalui metode eja. Penelitian ini bermaksud untuk meningkatkan kemampuan membaca permulaan melalui metode eja bagi anak kesulitan belajar kelas V di SD Negeri 32 Kuranji, Padang. Jenis penelitian ini merupakan penelitian subjek tunggal (SSR) desain A-B. Data yang dikumpulkan melalui pengamatan langsung dan dicatat pada lembaran observasi. Data yang dianalisis yaitu menggunakan analisis visual grafik. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa kemampuan membaca permulaan bagi anak kesulitan belajar kelas V di SD Negeri 32 Kuranji Padang, meningkat setelah diberikan intervensi dengan metode eja. Pada kondisi awal anak mendapatkan skor tertinggi 20% sedangkan pada kondisi intervensi anak mendapat skor 100%. Dengan demikian terbukti bahwa metode eja bisa meningkatkan kemampuan membaca permulaan bagi anak kesulitan belajar kelas V di SD Negeri 32 Kuranji Padang.
