Abstract


This research is a qualitative descriptive study with the aim to determine the communication skills of teachers in schools. The research was conducted at SMKN 6 Padang with multiple data sources ie principals, vice-principals, teachers, staff, and students directly involved in the communication skills of teachers. Determination of data sources using snowball sampling technique and purposive sampling. Data collection techniques in research through interviews, observation and documentation. Technique authenticity of data used triangulation. The findings showed that: (1) The communication skills of teachers in using good grammar is not optimal teacher is still less attention to the use of grammar (2) The communication skills of teachers through a conversation that is easily understood, concise and clearly not yet completely optimal waste words, repeating the same vocabulary, and sound less varied. (3) The communication skills of teachers in a truthful and accurate communication is not running optimally (4) Communication skills of teachers in the ability to receive messages is not maximized, especially in being fair to students is not yet completely clear, concise optimal waste words, repeating the same vocabulary, and sound less varied.
