Abstract


This research is motivated by the writer's observations about the social competence of teachers in SMK Negeri 5 Padang which is still lacking. The purpose of this study is to find out and describe how capable teacher competency, which includes: 1) Communication skills, 2) Ability to get along effectively, 3) Ability to adapt. This type of research is descriptive. The population in this study were 60th grade students of SMK Negeri 5 Padang with a total of 609 people. Sampling using the Slovin formula with Simple Random Sampling techniques so that a sample of 86 students was obtained. Data collection tool in this study is a Likert scale model questionnaire that has been tested for validity and reliability. Data analysis techniques using the average formula. The results showed that: 1) The social competence of teachers in communicating at SMK Negeri 5 Padang was quite capable of being implemented by teachers with an average score of 3.50. 2) the social competence of teachers in getting along effectively at SMK Negeri 5 Padang can be implemented by teachers with an average score category of 3.76. 3) the social competence of teachers in adapting to the environment can be implemented by teachers with an average score category of 3.93. Thus it can be concluded that the social competence of teachers in SMK Negeri 5 Padang can be implemented by teachers with an overall average of 3.73.
