Abstract


This research was motivated by the observations of the authors at Muhammadiyah 1 Padang Vocational High School, which showed that teacher communication skills were still low. The purpose of this study is to obtain data and information about (1) the skills of teachers in delivering messages verbally in the learning process, (2) the skills of teachers in delivering written messages in the learning process, (3) the skills of teachers receiving messages in the learning process. The research question is how well do students' perceptions of skills convey messages verbally, in writing and receive messages.
This research is a descriptive research. The population of this study amounted to 210 students and the sample size was determined using the Slovin formula at an error rate of 10% with a proportional random sampling technique of 72 students. The research instrument is a Likert scale model questionnaire with five alternative answers that have been tested for validity and reliability. The results of the trials of the two instruments show valid and reliable. Data analysis uses the mean formula.
