ANALISIS FAKTOR-FAKTOR PENYEBAB KEMISKINAN DI KABUPATEN PADANG PARIAMAN

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the factors of poverty in Padang Pariaman district which is one of regencies in West Sumatra that have a lot of poor people. According to BPS, the number of poor people in West Sumatra in 2008 was 477,200 person. In Kabupaten Padang Pariaman according to results of the Social Protection Program Data Collection Year 2008 (PPLS.08) there are 19,855 HH living below the poverty line. Some of the factors causing poverty are education level, employment status, size of the HH, etc.. Low education of HH head significantly influence the formation of HH poor in the district of Padang Pariaman 1.194 times compared with the tendency of highly educated head of HH. HH heads informal employment status was also significant with the trend of 2.384 times than HH head who work formally. And for the size of HH results were also significant with the trend of 5.212 times, this means that the number of members of HH to be the main variables that support the HH to be poor.
